The Indian Institute of Technology Bhubaneswar invites applications from eligible and interested candidates for the post of Project Scientist at IIT Bhubaneswar.

Around- The permanent campus of IIT Bhubaneswar is spread over 936 acres of land. It is located at the foot of Barunei Hill, famous for its rich history. The campus offers a uniquely serene and eco-friendly academic environment. IIT Bhubaneswar has an academic section, a residential section, a training centre section and a research park. Although IIT Bhubaneswar initially operated from two transit campuses in Bhubaneswar city, most of the residential and academic activities have now started at the permanent campus in Argul.

Authorization/Qualification–

Minimum requirements: Ph.D. with honors or equivalent degree in biological sciences with consistently excellent academic performance and evidence of the ability to conduct independent, high-quality research and manage research projects independently.

Upper age limit: 45 years

Experience: The candidate should have 7 years of post-PhD research experience and have published at least 5 research articles in high-profile peer-reviewed journals as lead author on probiotics and microbiome. The candidate should have experience working with cell culture and mouse models and in-depth knowledge of microbial fermentation technology. The candidate should be able to design and conduct human experiments/clinical trials.

Job Description-

The SKBET Centre, IIT Bhubaneswar invites applications for the post of Project Scientist (D). Applicants must be exceptionally intelligent and motivated and have a proven track record of independent and high quality research. The post is offered for a period of three years with annual review, after which there is a possibility of extension, depending on need and performance.

Number of vacancies: 1

Job responsibility: The candidate will work on research and development of various probiotics formulations and continuously search for potential probiotics strains and next generation probiotics from human gut microbiota and standardize their growth conditions. In addition, the candidate will be required to work on synthetic microbiomes to develop microbial products for various applications. The candidate will be required to design the experiments on mice and humans for screening various probiotics formulations. The candidate should be comfortable working in other research areas that require microbiology and microbiome technology. The candidate is expected to write various proposals to raise external funding for the center.

Salary: Rs. 78000/- + HRA if applicable
