Eligibility/Qualification:

• Master’s degree in (Bio-)Medical Sciences, Biochemistry, (Bio-)Physics, Bioengineering, Veterinary Sciences, Medicine or equivalentor before starting work
• Outstanding academic achievements
• Teaching competencies in line with the educational vision of the University of Antwerp
• Research qualities in line with the research guidelines of the faculty and the university
• Proven characteristics such as quality, integrity, creativity and cooperation
• Experience with techniques such as cell culture, genome engineering, fluorescence microscopy and bioinformatics is an advantage

Job description:

• Collaboration on a doctoral thesis focusing on cell plasticity in glioblastoma
• Close collaboration with teams in Belgium, France and Norway
• Publish scientific articles related to the research project
• Carrying out a limited number of tasks to support teaching and research for the Laboratory of Cell Biology and Histology

This PhD scholarship is limited to two years and can be extended for a further two years if the assessment is positive. The successful candidate will receive a monthly stipend according to the salary scale for contract research personnel (Bijzonder Academisch Personeel, BAP) as well as additional benefits such as eco-cheques, internet access subsidies and travel allowances.
