Add Drawings to your documents in Word for web

Hi Insiders! I’m Michelle Maislen, a program manager on the Office Graphics team. I’m excited to announce new features that let you create and insert rich graphics, including text boxes, shapes, ink, and pictures, in Word or on the web!

One of the most requested features in Word for the web is the ability to insert and edit text boxes and shapes within your documents, and annotate drawings with ink. With the new drawing capabilities in Word for the web, you can now create and insert standalone diagrams made up of shapes, text, ink, and drawings, opening up a whole new world of possibilities for visually enriching your content!

How it works

1. Open Word on the web.
2. Below newClick New blank document.
3. Clicking sound Put in> painting.
4. Click on a shape to insert it. Down arrow Choose the shape you want.
5. Click to add a text box. Text boxClick and drag the cursor to create a text box..
6. Click to add ink to your document. drawChoose a pen and start drawing with ink on your drawing canvas.
7. Click to insert the drawing into your document. Save and Close.
8. Continue editing your drawing by double-clicking on the drawing or object, or right-clicking and selecting Powerful > Draw & Annotate..

Feature limitations

• Future releases of the Drawing feature will include support for the following inserts:
  • M365 Premium Graphic Content
  • Bing Images
  • Icon
  • GIF
  • Smart Art
• Shapes or text with effects such as shadows, reflections, glows, soft corners, bevels, or 3D rotations can’t be edited if they were added using Word for Windows. painting Dialog box.
• Co-authored within that painting Dialog boxes are not supported.

effectiveness

This feature is available in First Release for Word for the web and will roll out to all web users soon.

Features are released over time to ensure everything works smoothly. Since they are released slowly to more customers, we highlight features that you may not have. We also remove elements based on your feedback to make them even better. Although this is rare, we also have the option to completely remove a feature from the product, even if you have had the opportunity to try it out as a First Release user.
