August 2024 Updates and Announcements

Flexible Maintenance Options for Azure Database for MySQL Flexible Server (General Availability)

The new flexible maintenance options give you more control over the timing of maintenance activities performed on your Azure Database for MySQL Flexible Server instances, allowing you to align maintenance schedules with your operational requirements. After receiving a maintenance notification, you can change the schedule to a more convenient time, whether it is system-managed or custom-managed. Since launching this feature as a public preview last year, we’ve incorporated several important updates and feedback to ensure a more seamless and flexible experience.

Key improvements in GA include:

  • Extended schedule change window: The rebalancing period has been extended to include all possible maintenance dates within the region (ensuring a maximum rebalancing period of 30 days), providing much more flexibility compared to the limited 14-day period provided in the public preview.

  • Change schedule via Azure CLI: You can now reschedule maintenance activities via the Azure CLI, providing flexibility and automation in managing maintenance windows across multiple servers.
