Microsoft Copilot Academy now available to all Microsoft 365 Copilot users

As part of our efforts to make Copilot more accessible to more customers, we are excited to announce the following news: Microsoft Copilot Academy Now available to everyone with a Microsoft 365 Copilot license, the Academy, curated by Microsoft experts, provides a comprehensive, structured learning experience designed to help users master Copilot through hands-on learning activities and experiences. To access the Academy in Viva Learning, users must have an assigned base Microsoft 365 or Office 365 license (to get started with the free version of Viva Learning – see Appendix 1 for a full list of licenses that grant access to Viva Learning) and a Microsoft 365 Copilot license (to view the Academy). A paid Viva license is no longer required to access Copilot Academy. No additional registration or administrative actions are required to start using Copilot Academy.

How to access Copilot Academy

There are two ways to access Copilot Academy: Viva Learning Web Appor in Viva Learning Teams App Use the Academy drop-down navigation menu. Copilot Academy is available in eight languages: English, French, German, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, Japanese and Chinese.

From the drop-down menu in the Viva Learning app, go to Microsoft Copilot Academy.

Administrator Settings and Configuration

Copilot Academy does not require registration or any special steps to configure your tenant access. Access activation is not required, but for administrators and knowledge managers who wish to deactivate Copilot Academy, you can do so from the Admin tab in Viva Learning.

Administrators can disable Microsoft Copilot Academy from the Admin tab in the Viva Learning app.

Future Prospects

We are continually improving the Copilot Academy end-user experience. The following improvements are being made to improve the experience for all Microsoft 365 Copilot licensees:

• Academy Content Updates and Improvements: We continually evaluate the value and impact of individual courses. We regularly add new content as it becomes available, and we always strive to ensure that the materials provided are helpful and of the highest quality.
• Copilot Academy Notifications (Q4 2024): This Teams notification alert encourages new users to try Copilot Academy and notifies existing users of new Copilot Academy updates each month.

Currently, the Copilot Academy experience is the same whether you have a paid Viva Learning license or not. However, we plan to offer some additional features to organizations with a paid Viva Learning license who want to customize their Copilot Academy experience. For a sneak peek at some of the upcoming premium features, see below.

• Duplicate Copilot Academy (Q4 2024): Ability for admins to duplicate and customize Copilot Academy. This allows admins to copy the default Copilot Academy, customize the content as needed (including removing content and adding new content), and republish it to their organization as a custom academy. It also allows admins to duplicate learning paths and recommendation sets within an academy.
• Multi-tier structuring (Q1 2025): The ability for Copilot Academy to structure content and learning paths across multiple levels or tiers. This allows for a greater level of control and structure in the Copilot Academy experience.
