I’m Kimberley Chua, a Product Manager on the Word team. I’m excited to share that Word for Windows is making it easier to switch between editing, reviewing, and viewing documents. Switch between editing, reviewing, and viewing Have you ever worried about accidentally making changes while reviewing a file written by a colleague? Word for Windows has been updated to make it easy to change modes with just a few clicks. View mode prevents you from typing on the canvas while you read the document. To turn on Track Changes, switch to Review mode and select Track My Items only to leave tracked changes (or leave comments) in the document when you make suggestions. How it works Open a Word document that you have editing permissions for. Click here Editing Button on the ribbon (top right corner, side) Share Click the button and then click Under review or look Switch to a different way of working on your documents. (memo: The button names change depending on the selected mode..) Mode menu with edit options selected To switch back to editing the document, select the button again and click it. Editing. Tips and Tricks effectiveness This feature is available to all users of Word for the web, and is rolling out to Beta Channel users running Version 2206 (Build 15314.10000) or later. Features are released over time to ensure everything works smoothly. They are released slowly to a larger number of Insiders, highlighting features you may not have. Sometimes we remove elements based on your feedback to make them even better.
