Hello, Insiders! I’m Kimberley Chua, a Product Manager on the Word team. I’m excited to announce that Simple Markup View is now available in Word for the web.

Simple markup view in Word for the web

We heard your feedback! You want to be able to view your Word documents with tracked changes with less distraction, and you want more control over how your documents appear in Word for the web. Simple Markup View meets both needs.

If you use Word for Windows or Word for Mac, you’re probably already familiar with Simple Markup view and its benefits. This view keeps other people’s suggestions (both tracked changes and comments) nearby, allowing you to focus on the document itself while still being aware of the suggestions.

How it works

1. In your Word for the web document, click: examine tag.
2. Click the arrow on the right View markup Click the button and select Margin markup (simple markup) From the list.

effectiveness

We plan to roll out this feature to all web users within the next month.

Features are released over time to ensure everything works smoothly. They are released slowly to a larger number of Insiders, highlighting features you may not have. Sometimes we remove elements based on your feedback to make them even better. This is rare, but we also have the option to completely remove a feature from the product, even if you, as an Insider, had the opportunity to try it out.
