I’m Sudheender Srinivasan, a Product Manager on the Microsoft 365 mobile apps team. I’m excited to share with you improvements we’ve made to help you find and reuse files you’ve previously opened in the Microsoft 365 mobile apps for Android. Find recently used files in Microsoft 365 apps for Android We’ve heard from many of you that you want to be able to easily access files you previously opened with Microsoft 365 mobile apps. We’re excited to announce that you can now! Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and PDF files opened in Microsoft apps and third-party apps like WhatsApp, Gmail, Outlook, etc. can now be accessed via: Recent Tabs. This improvement helps you quickly find previously opened files without having to navigate to or launch the source app. How it works Open a Word, Excel, PowerPoint, or PDF file and select: Microsoft 365 You will be prompted to choose an app to use to open the file. In the Microsoft 365 mobile app, go to: Recent If you look at the tabs, you can see a list of your current and previously opened files, making them accessible. Microsoft 365 apps with the Recent tab displayed To perform additional actions on that file, such as sharing, click the three dots next to the file name and select the desired command. Known Issues You may need to close and reopen the app several times for the feature to work as expected. effectiveness This feature is rolling out to Insiders running version 16.0.16227.20076 or later of the Microsoft 365 mobile app for Android. Features are released over time to ensure they work smoothly. They are released slowly to a larger number of Insiders, highlighting features you may not have. Sometimes we remove elements based on your feedback to make them even better.
