Hello, Microsoft 365 Insiders! I’m Lakshay Gupta, a product manager on the PowerPoint for the web team. I’m excited to share that we’ve added automatic formatting for bulleted lists to PowerPoint for the web. This brings us closer to PowerPoint on other platforms and makes it easier to edit and format text.

Automatic bullet formatting in PowerPoint for the web

Bulleted lists are one of the most used features in PowerPoint for the web. They help you tell your story effectively with short, readable, and impactful statements.

Previously, you had to set up a bulleted list. Switch to the ribbon, select the type of bullet you want, and then select the bullet icon style you want. Now you can create a bulleted list without lifting your fingers from the keyboard or breaking your editing flow.

How it works

1. Insert a text box in PowerPoint for the web and add text.
2. Start a bulleted list with one of the following bullet or number styles by typing one of the following symbols or numbers, then press the spacebar.

The symbols are automatically converted to bullet/number styles, and those styles will continue to be used when you add new items to the list.

Tips and Tricks

Sometimes you just want text! If you type in text and it automatically converts to bullets, you can use the backspace key to revert it to symbols.

This feature is available to all PowerPoint for the web users.

Features are released over time to ensure everything works smoothly. They are released slowly to a larger number of Insiders, highlighting features you may not have. Sometimes we remove elements based on your feedback to make them even better. This is rare, but we also have the option to completely remove a feature from the product, even if you, as an Insider, had the opportunity to try it out.
