Hello, Microsoft 365 Insiders! We’re excited to announce that Avatars for Microsoft Teams are now available in the Teams Public Preview.

Avatars for Microsoft Teams let you collaborate effectively while giving you the camera break you need. Add a new layer of choice to your meetings and express yourself the way you want with customizable avatars and reactions.

How it works

1. To create an avatar, first download the Avatar app from the Teams app store. Create your avatar Click or select a button on the pre-participation screen. See more > Effects and Avatars During the meeting.
2. In the Avatar app, choose from hundreds of combinations to customize your avatar with physical features, wardrobe, accessories, and more.

3. You can access your avatar from the quick tray before joining a Teams meeting, even when your camera is disabled.

   Select the Video and Audio Options page

4. After joining the meeting, you can select and apply an avatar. See more > Effects and Avatars.

   After joining the meeting, select More > Effects & Avatars

Additional settings include the ability to express yourself through avatar reactions, update your background, change camera position, and more!

Tips and Tricks

• Save up to 3 avatars for different meeting types: casual, professional, daily, etc.

Restrictions

• You must be at least 18 years old to use an avatar in Microsoft Teams.

effectiveness

To use this feature, users must be members of Teams Public Preview and use the Windows or macOS Teams client. Other users do not need to be members of Teams Public Preview.

To enable Teams clients for public preview, your IT admin must set an update policy. Show preview feature. Find out how Public Preview of Microsoft Teams.

• if Follow Office Preview When the option is selected, the Teams Public Preview feature will be automatically enabled for all users enrolled in the Office Current Channel (Preview). No further action is required from the end user.
• if Activated If the option is selected, end users must also: Join the Teams public preview Access Teams public preview features in the Teams app.
