Under the general direction of the Deputy Regional Director of the Regional Office for West and Central Africa (ROWCA) in Dakar, Senegal, and the direct supervision of the Regional Media and Communications Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for implementing communications activities by providing daily support in developing, editing, updating and publishing content on the various platforms of the Regional Office. Collaboration with other relevant units within the Regional Office may also be required.

Core functions / responsibilities:

  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of the mission of the IOM Regional Office for West and Central Africa and its engagement with WCA governments and other stakeholders.
  • Support the Regional Media and Communication Lead in the implementation of external and internal communication campaigns;
  • Regularly upload and update information and content on the regional IOM-WCA website.
  • Support the production and dissemination of communication material and quality assurance, creativity and experience, adapted to a variety of public declarations of conformity to OIM quality assurance and authorization procedures – training notes, histories of internal people, publications on social networks, calls for donations, free videos, information sheets, articles, etc.

  • We provide comprehensive technical and daily media and communications advice for various missions in the WCA region.
  • Contribute to strengthening the capacities of OIM staff and partners in the field of communication on migration and media engagement, in addition to developing policies and best practices for the creation, management, etc. of content and dissemination;

Required qualifications and experience:

Education:

You have completed your university degree in communication, journalism or similar training from an accredited institution with at least three years of experience in relevant work

Diploma courses with less than five years and relevant professional experience.

The master is an asset.

Experience and skills:

  • Experience in setting up an external professional in the field of communications and communications in a development context within a multilateral or international organization;
  • I have tested the Adobe suite and/or other software tools (Photoshop, Premier Pro, Canva, etc.), in addition, I have a solid computer science knowledge and have developed a number of different MS Office applications (Excel, Word, etc.);
  • Solid skills in editing and revision – in international journalism and/or public information/communication;
  • Solid knowledge of social media platforms and experience in raising social media awareness;

Translation:

  • The Maîtrise du français is required. English is an advantage.
