  • Research area: Investigating the causal relationship between mitochondrial dysfunction and the pathophysiology of cancer, with a focus on the correlation between mitochondrial ultrastructure and the innate immune response.
  • Location: University Hospital Cologne, Germany
  • Eligibility/Qualification:
  • Masters in Biology, biochemistry, molecular biology or equivalent
  • Extensive expertise in cell metabolism is a plus
  • Research background in cancer biology, immunology and/or metabolism preferred
  • Knowledge of research procedures and statistical methods
  • Excellent communication skills in written and oral English
  • Job description:
  • Use of cell lines and mouse models to investigate mitochondrial dysfunction in cancer pathophysiology
  • Use molecular biology, biochemistry and computational techniques to analyze metabolism at the molecular level.
  • Perform multi-omics analyses and integrate datasets to generate hypotheses
  • Accurately record, analyze, present and report experimental data
  • Implementation of an independent research project under the direction of Prof. Dr. Frezza
  • Train junior laboratory staff and technicians
  • Work within the framework of the SFB 1218 on the topic “Mitochondrial regulation of cellular functions”
