Postdoc position – Nanotechnology: Join an interdisciplinary research project focused on the development of nanocellulose-based materials for the treatment of chronic wounds. This temporary full-time position is for two years, with a possible start date as soon as possible or by mutual agreement.

Postdoc position – Nanotechnology and functional materials with a focus on the functionalization of nanocellulose

• Designation: Postdoctoral Fellow
• Research area: Nanotechnology and functional materials, with a particular focus on the functionalization of nanocellulose for the treatment of chronic wounds.
• Location: Uppsala University, Department of Science and Technology, Faculty of Technology, Division of Materials Science and Engineering, Uppsala, Sweden.
• Authorization/Qualification:
• A doctorate in Chemistry, pharmaceutical chemistry, materials engineering, materials science or related fields.
• Documented expertise in carbohydrate chemistry and materials characterization.
• Good written and spoken English knowledge.
• Experience in the chemical modification of nanocellulose is considered a great advantage, as is expertise in the design and synthesis of peptides.

• The main focus is on the functionalization of nanocellulose to achieve effective delivery of bioactive peptides into the chronic wound environment.
• Chemical modification and functionalization of nanocellulose, including the incorporation of cross-linkers, to investigate the controlled release of peptides.
• Investigation of different coupling chemistries and strategies to ensure stable and bioactive functionalized materials.
• Material characterization regarding chemical structure, degree of substitution, fiber morphology and material stability in simulated biological environments.
• Design and synthesis of peptides as a fundamental part of experimental work.
• Communication of research results through scientific articles in renowned journals and presentations at international conferences.
• Possible supervision of Bachelor and Master students.
• Participation in the application for external research funding.
