Category

  • Bluestone Church Arts Space is offering two types of artist residency programs in 2025:
    • Creative Development: For artists seeking a space to develop their artistic practice and creatively develop new work for two weeks.
    • Support Season: For artists looking for a space to present a new performance season for 1-3 weeks.

  • Arts and Culture Maribyrnong:
    • On technical rehearsal days, we provide a dedicated theater technician who is available 8 hours a day in case of emergencies.
    • The artistic team receives the entire box office proceeds for the production.
    • Successful applicants will receive in-kind access to Bluestone Church Arts Space.
    • Covers the cost of rental of technical equipment within the facility during your stay.
    • Providing marketing support for seasonal promotions (along with artists’ own specific marketing campaigns)

funds information

  • Creative Development: Provides a stipend of $1,000 toward artist fees and/or production costs.
  • Support Season: We offer grants of up to $5,000 towards artist fees and/or production costs.

Eligibility Criteria

  • We welcome applications from performing artists of all disciplines living in the west of Melbourne (the cities of Maribyrnong, Brimbank, Hobsons Bay, Moonee Valley, Melton or Wyndham).
  • Preference will be given to artists who live, work, study or have a strong connection to the city of Maribyrnong.
  • Presenting original work (conceived, written, or composed by a creative team) will be well received.
  • Applicants must have an active ABN or be sponsored by an incorporated association.
  • Applicants must be acquitted of previous Commission grants or programs.
  • Applicants must have public liability insurance of at least $10 million for the duration of the project and must work with children’s checks (if the project involves young people).
  • Applicants are encouraged to consider accessibility for team members and audiences and can discuss this with the Arts and Culture team.

Evaluation criteria

  • Creative Development:
    • It demonstrated a connection to Melbourne’s west.
    • It is a clearly articulated project that demonstrates a strong artistic practice.
    • Project Management Capabilities – A creative team with proven skills and relationships to successfully execute proposed projects.
    • Clear goals and objectives for the creative development of new work.
  • Support season:
    • It demonstrated a connection to Melbourne’s west.
    • A clearly articulated project that demonstrates strong artistic practice and presentation preparation work.
    • It results in nurturing an existing audience or developing a new audience.
    • Ability to project manage a creative team with proven skills and relationships to successfully execute proposed projects.
    • A complete, balanced and realistic budget.
