Windows App now available on all major platforms

Starting today, the Windows App is generally available on Windows, macOS, iOS, iPadOS, and web browsers, and is in public preview on Android. This integrated app acts as a secure gateway to Windows from Windows 365, Azure Virtual Desktop, Remote Desktop, Remote Desktop Services, Microsoft Dev Box, and more.

Windows App gives you a unified experience that lets you easily connect to the Windows experience you know and love across all your devices. Enhance your productivity with features like customizable home screens, multi-monitor support, and USB redirection. Windows App also offers advanced security features, including multi-factor authentication, to ensure a seamless, robust connection and to enable you to work efficiently anytime, anywhere.

What’s new in Windows apps?

With the general availability of Windows Apps, you’ll see improvements designed to make accessing and managing Windows resources more seamless. These updates bring new features and improvements to the user experience across all major platforms.

• Device and app operations: Simplify device management with a variety of integrations unique to supported solutions.
• Windows 365 Frontline Cloud PC Support: Enjoy extended compatibility for special use cases.
• In-app feedback: Windows 365 and Azure Virtual Desktop users can easily provide feedback within the app.
• Account Switcher for Microsoft Entra ID: iOS and macOS users can easily switch accounts using a Microsoft Entra account.

The Windows app lets you manage connected cloud PCs, virtual desktops, and local PCs from a single, streamlined interface.

“The cross-platform availability of the new Windows apps unifies the end-user experience for all employees and puts the virtualized environments they need at their fingertips—in the office, at home, and while traveling,” Kleyn added.

“Krones began evaluating the new Windows app and onboarding its first test users on day one,” concludes Kleyn. “It was a natural fit for us to roll it out broadly to the enterprise. Change Plan: Moving to New Windows Apps

With this general release, users of the Remote Desktop client for Windows, macOS, iOS, iPadOS, and web will transition to the Windows app.

Windows Apps are now available through the appropriate store for each client platform, ensuring a smooth update process.
