Updates to Microsoft Copilot to bring enterprise data protection to more organizations

Next month, we’ll be making several updates to the free Microsoft Copilot service for users with a Microsoft Entra account, strengthening data security, privacy, and compliance, and streamlining the user experience. For users signed in with an Entra account, Microsoft Copilot will provide enterprise data protection (EDP) and redirect users to a new, streamlined, ad-free user interface designed for work and education.

Corporate Data Protection
For users logged in with an Entra account: [1]Powered by Microsoft Copilot Corporate Data Protection. EDP is provided to these users at no additional cost. EDP stands for Control. [2] and promise, Additional Data Protection Provisions and Product Terms and ConditionsApplies to customer data of Copilot users for Microsoft 365 and Microsoft Copilot [3]. That means the security, privacy, and compliance controls and commitments available in Copilot for Microsoft 365 extend to Microsoft Copilot prompts and responses. Prompts and responses are protected by the same terms and commitments you trust for email in Exchange and files in SharePoint, not just in Copilot for Microsoft 365.

Using EDP with Microsoft Copilot:

A streamlined experience

We’ve also responded to customer feedback with a new, streamlined, ad-free Copilot user interface designed for work and education, and we’ve included out-of-the-box examples relevant to work and education scenarios to help people get started quickly.

Microsoft Copilot will be available to try starting in mid-September at Microsoft.com/copilot and in Microsoft 365 apps, and will be available soon in Microsoft Teams and Outlook.
