Here are keynote speeches from Microsoft leaders: Scott HanselmanScott Hunter, Vice President of Microsoft Development Communities and Vice President of Products at Microsoft, discusses the Azure developer experience with insights from engineers, Microsoft MVPs and Regional Directors (RDs), and industry experts, making it a hub for innovation. In the early days of DEVintersection (2012-2015), we focused on open web technologies. We co-hosted a conference called AngleBrackets that focused on open web content and then provided a space for both audiences to mix. Over the years we’ve included data in SQLIntersection and for a while in the M365 Conference. Today DEVintersection NextGenAI Conference – The goal is to create intersections between diverse audiences and perspectives, fostering a deeper understanding of both technology stacks. The more ideas you bring together, the more powerful your results will be! What do you think about DEVIntersection’s growth over the past few years? richard: DEVintersection has evolved as the community has evolved. The need for developers continues to grow, and we can help. As new technologies emerge, we intersect with them to bring new experts and perspectives to the DEVintersection audience. How will Microsoft’s participation enhance the learning and networking opportunities for DEVintersection attendees? Did you have any special insights or sessions from Microsoft this year? richard: We see Microsoft as a partner that tells our development story to our audience. We love bringing Microsoft engineers to our events to talk about how and why they build what they build. Industry experts then add to the conversation based on their experience deploying that technology to customers. Microsoft’s intersection with the industry is where there is value. You can see the future there! RunAs Radio Podcast – Once or twice a year from 2014 to 2022. Listen to that show (and the SQL team knows!) and you’ll hear it change the way people view SQL Server. Often the same attendees ask more and more complex questions each year. There, too, we see a gradual acceptance of the cloud as data storage. Initially skeptical, exploration follows and ultimately acceptance. This is the most rewarding part of creating a conference. How do you select speakers and topics for each conference and ensure a diverse and inclusive lineup of speakers and sessions? richard: We have a call for proposals (CFP), but we do not focus on recruiting speakers because of diversity and inclusion. The CFP process is not attractive to the largest and most diverse group of speakers. We hire directly. Become part of a community, participate in different types of events, and connect directly with the best talent in the industry. And we ask them to be a part of our show. This is the best way to involve a wide range of people in your meetings.
