SCHOLARSHIP FOR SUSTAINABLE METAL CATALYSTS: Join our groundbreaking research project to develop tailor-made base metal-based catalysts for sustainable carbon dioxide reduction and conversion. This fellowship will give you the opportunity to work with world-class researchers and contribute to groundbreaking discoveries in the fields of catalysis and CO2 utilization.

Designation: PhD student

Research area: Sustainable carbon dioxide reduction and conversion through tailor-made catalysts based on base metals.

Location: University of Tasmania, Hobart

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • Applicants must have a First Class Honours degree or equivalent qualification in organic, inorganic or organometallic synthesis.
  • Strong research and analytical skills are essential.
  • Full-time availability and ability to carry out the project on campus.
  • Open to candidates from Australia, New Zealand and overseas.

Job description:
As a PhD student, you will be working on the development and application of new enzyme-inspired catalysts for CO2 utilization. Your role will cover organic, inorganic and organometallic synthesis, including standard techniques for spectroscopic characterization. In addition, you will contribute to the understanding of CO2 activation by organometallic complexes and to innovative strategies for converting CO2 into value-added materials.
