Designation: Research Assistant (f/m/d)

Research area: Computational and Theoretical Chemistry

Location: University of Heidelberg, Interdisciplinary Center for Scientific Computing

Authorization/Qualification:

  • Successful completion of a Bachelor’s degree (M.Sc. or equivalent) in Chemistry, physics or a related field
  • High motivation to learn, develop and apply new theoretical methods
  • Ability to work in a team, strong communication skills and willingness to learn in a team
  • Ideally experience in working with software packages and programming for quantum chemistry and/or molecular mechanics
  • Good communication skills in English, both oral and written

Job description:

  • Conducting multiscale simulations of stimuli-responsive functional materials
  • Investigation of the structural and dynamic properties of molecular switches and machines
  • Developing and applying evolutionary algorithms, neural networks and machine learning to model, evaluate and visualize dynamic phenomena
  • Scientific cooperation and exchange with experimental groups
