Research Fellow (642005): There is an exciting opportunity for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow position at the Strathclyde Institute of Pharmacy and Biomedical Sciences (SIPBS), University of Strathclyde. The successful candidate will be involved in a cutting-edge research project investigating the influence of thermodynamic microphase separation in binary solvent mixtures on the particle size and shape of crystalline materials. This position is part of an EPSRC Fellowship for the ‘Accelerating the Pharmaceutical Revolution’ special call and offers the opportunity to work with world-class facilities and in collaboration with industry.

Title: Research Associate

Research area: Investigation of the influence of microheterogeneous binary solvent systems on the control of particle properties and their possible application in the continuous crystallization of pharmaceutically relevant model compounds.

Location: Strathclyde Institute of Pharmacy and Biomedical Sciences, University of Strathclyde, UK

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • PhD degree or equivalent in Chemistry, chemical engineering, materials science or a related disciplineor in the process of completing this qualification.
  • Good first degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, materials science or a related discipline.
  • Relevant experience in particle characterization, crystallization and solid state analysis.
  • Experience with solution characterization tools such as NMR and FTIR as well as total scattering experiments.

Job description:
The successful candidate will conduct their own research project and support two PhD students on related research projects. They will also be responsible for supporting the research group in day-to-day operations, publishing high-quality peer-reviewed articles and representing the group at national and international conferences and workshops. The role requires the ability to work both independently and in project teams, as well as proven experience in analytical writing and publication records.
