Research Associate / Postdoc (m/f/d): The Center for Regenerative Therapies Dresden (CRTD), an institute of the Center for Molecular and Cellular Bioengineering (CMCB) at the Technical University of Dresden, is offering a position as a research assistant / postdoc (m/f/d) in the junior research group Gene Regulatory Mechanisms of Neocortex Evolution led by Dr. Mareike Albert. The position is expected to start on December 1, 2024 and is limited to 4 years.

Designation: Research Associate / Postdoc (m/f/d)

Research area: Development and evolution of the neocortex, gene regulatory mechanisms in neural progenitor cells, neurogenesis and neuronal maturation.

Location: Center for Regenerative Therapies Dresden (CRTD), TUD Dresden, Germany.

Authorization/Qualification:

  • University and doctoral degree in Biology, genetics, neuroscience or a related subject.
  • Experience in mouse genetics or organoid generation, single-cell sequencing technologies and bioinformatics skills, particularly in the analysis of scRNA-Seq data.
  • Background in neurogenesis, stem cells, gene expression and/or epigenetics.
  • Able to independently manage a high-profile research project with high-quality publications or preprints.
  • Excellent communication skills in written and oral English, strong interpersonal skills, high level of organization and good knowledge of relevant literature.

Job description:
The successful candidate will lead research on the development and evolution of the neocortex, focusing on gene regulatory mechanisms in neural progenitor cells, neurogenesis and neuronal maturation. Main tasks include implementation of single cell technologies (scRNA-seq, CyTOF, etc.) and electrophysiological analyses, participation in international research collaborations, contribution to teaching in the field of epigenetics, stem cells and neurobiology, and supervision of rotation and thesis projects.
