About- Institute of Nano Science and Technology (INST), Mohali (Punjab), an autonomous institution of Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India, has been established under the umbrella of NANO MISSION, initiated by DST to boost research and development in the field of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology in India. INST started its activities on 3rd January 2013, the date on which its first Director was appointed. The institute is currently operating from its transit campus at Habitat Centre, Sector-64, Phase-X, Mohali, Punjab. The new campus of INST would be set up on 35 acres of land in the Knowledge City at Sector-81 (Mohali, Punjab), next to IISER Mohali campus, which is very near to new Chandigarh International Airport. Research/Job Area- Tissue engineering/ Biomaterials / Synthetic Modification of biopolymers
Location- Punjab
Eligibility/Qualification–
Essential: Ph.D/MD/MS/MDS or equivalent degree or having 3 years of research, teaching and design and development experience after MVSc/M.Pharm/ME/M.Tech with at least one research paper in Science Citation Indexed (SCI) journal.
Desirable Experience: Research experience in Tissue engineering/ Biomaterials / Synthetic Modification of biopolymers/ Proficiency in animal handling is preferable.
Age limit: 35 years as on 30.07.2024 which is relaxable for certain reserved categories as per the rules of the Government of India.

Applications are invited from highly motivated and bright candidates for engagement of Research Associate-I in the research project funded by ‘Government of India at Institute of Nano Science and Technology, Mohali.
Title of the Research Project: Lignin valorization via biomaterial development, depolymerization and green technology

Salary: Rs.58,000/- pm + HRA (as applicable)

Project duration: Initially one year and may be extended based on performance of the candidate and availability of funds.
Brief details of the work to be undertaken: Development of novel scaffolding matrices using lignin, for use in biomedical applications. The matrices would be used for cell culture and direct implantation for regeneration of tissues. The work will require purification of lignin from various plant sources, its modification for the development of hydrogel scaffolds. Physico-chemical characterization, and in vitro and in vivo assessment of its potential in tissue regeneration applications.
General Terms and Conditions: The position is purely temporary and on contractual basis and renewable each year subject to satisfactory performance and availability of funds, for maximum of three years/ till the duration of the project. The position is co-terminus with the project.
