Public Preview of Azure Migrate from VMware to Azure Stack HCI

Today we are excited to announce the public preview. Azure Migrate feature to migrate VMs from VMware to Azure Stack HCIOur adaptive cloud approach provides significant improvements in cloud migration capabilities that seamlessly extend to the edge.

Seamless migration with Azure Migrate

At the heart of this release is the integration of the Adaptive Cloud Framework with Azure Migrate, which enables a seamless transition of virtual machines from VMware to Azure Stack HCI. Azure Migrate is a proven solution used by thousands of organizations to move on-premises workloads to Azure, and we’re now extending its capabilities to also support Azure Stack HCI.

Key benefits of Azure Migrate for VMware to HCI

• Agentless Replication: Migrate virtual machines without the need to install agents inside the VM, simplifying the process and reducing the risk of disruption.
• Configure your workload during migration. Azure Migrate provides the ability to reconfigure properties of VMs such as CPU, RAM, etc. directly in the migration environment.
  
• There is no impact to the workload during replication. Azure Migrate uses technologies such as LEDBAT++ to optimize network traffic and ensure reliable transfer from source to destination. It also interacts directly with the vCenter API to copy disks in the background. This means that VMware’s workloads will continue to run without interruption during the copy process.
• Data remains on-premises.: Migrated VMs move directly from VMware infrastructure to Azure Stack HCI infrastructure without going through the cloud. This helps you control your data and ensure compliance.
• Minimum conversion time: Designed to minimize downtime, our migration solution maintains business continuity by quickly and efficiently transitioning to Azure Stack HCI.
