Job description:

We are looking for an experienced Project Manager to lead the implementation of our initiative to strengthen social cohesion by empowering communities to co-lead early reconstruction processes. This project aims to build resilience among conflict-affected communities in northwest Syria by promoting peaceful coexistence, strengthening local leadership, and reducing conflict risks through dialogue, peaceful conflict resolution, and community-led reconstruction initiatives.

As a Project Manager, you will be responsible for planning, implementing and monitoring all project activities. You will work closely with community stakeholders, local protection and peace committees and partner organizations to ensure the successful implementation of project activities that promote social cohesion, peace building and community empowerment. Your role will include managing project staff, liaising with funders and ensuring that project objectives are achieved within the given timeframe and budget.

Main responsibilities

• Lead and manage the entire implementation of the project in accordance with its objectives and objectives.
• Create and maintain work plans, budgets and reports to ensure timely completion of project activities.
• Oversee the establishment and capacity building of local protection and peace committees and ensure that they are able to conduct community dialogues, resolve local conflicts peacefully and lead community-based peace initiatives.
• Maintain relationships with local authorities, community leaders, CBOs and other stakeholders to ensure effective collaboration and participation.
• Oversee the organisation and implementation of community dialogue sessions, awareness campaigns and capacity building trainings.
• Monitor project results and ensure that all activities are implemented according to organizational standards, schedules and donor requirements.
• Manage project staff and provide leadership, guidance and mentoring to the team.
• Ensure proper financial management and reporting in accordance with donor and organization policies.
• Report regularly to management and funders on progress, challenges and results.
• Ensure compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements.

Required qualifications

• Turkish citizenship (mandatory).
• A bachelor’s degree in social sciences, international development, conflict resolution, peace studies or a related field. A master’s degree is a plus.
• At least 5 years of experience in project management, of which at least 3 years in peacebuilding, social cohesion or community restoration initiatives.
• Proven experience working in conflict-affected regions, particularly in projects focused on peacebuilding, community empowerment or early recovery.
• Proven experience leading multi-stakeholder collaborations, including government agencies, NGOs and community-based organizations.
• Strong leadership and team management skills with the ability to motivate and lead project staff.
• Knowledge of donor-funded project management, including proposal development, budgeting and reporting.
• Fluent in Arabic and good knowledge of English.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills and the ability to work with diverse communities and stakeholders.
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

Preferred skills:

• Knowledge of integrating protection measures and working with vulnerable groups, including women, children and displaced persons.
• Familiarity with peacebuilding and conflict resolution methods.
• Understanding of the humanitarian context in north-west Syria, with previous work experience in cross-border projects being an advantage.
• Familiarity with digital tools for project management and reporting.
