Summary: Join our dynamic team in the Perception & Manipulation group at IRI and contribute to the development of a physically accurate fabric simulator called CLOTHILDE. The goal of this project is to improve the capabilities of the simulator so that robotic systems can effectively manipulate garments based on the simulations it generates.

• Research area: Virtual prototyping for robotic garment manipulation, extending the capabilities of the Clothilde fabric simulator
• Location: Institut de Robòtica i Informàtica Industrial (IRI), Barcelona, ​​Spain
• Eligibility/Qualification:
• Promotion in Applied mathematics, computer science, robotics, mechanical engineering or related fields
• Knowledge of mathematical modelling, optimisation and data science techniques
• Knowledge of programming languages ​​such as Python, MATLAB or C++
• Experience with fabric simulators or virtual reality environments
• Good knowledge of English

• Job description:
• Develop a user-friendly VR interface for the fabric simulator, focusing on real-time feedback, usability, interactivity and customization
• Extend the fabric model to include garments with complex designs, taking into account seams and mixed materials.
• Optimize the cloth model to handle collisions, especially on surfaces such as folding tables
• Integrate virtual robot environments to model robot-clothing interactions with different gripping modes
