Postdoctoral Researcher or Senior Scientist: The Cortez Lab at Vanderbilt University Medical School is seeking motivated Postdoctoral Researchers or Senior Scientists to join our team dedicated to understanding and maintaining genome integrity and ensuring accurate DNA replication. Our research addresses fundamental questions in DNA damage response, replication stress mechanisms, and their implications in cancer therapy.

Eligibility/Qualification
- Ph.D. in Genetics, Biochemistry, Cell Biology, Structural Biology, or related field.
- Strong background in molecular biology techniques.
- Experience in genomics, proteomics, and/or bioinformatics is a plus.
- Proven track record of scientific productivity through publications.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
Job Description
The successful candidates will be involved in cutting-edge research projects aimed at:
- Identifying and characterizing new replication stress response proteins.
- Conducting mechanistic studies of replication-coupled DNA repair and damage tolerance.
- Analyzing DNA damage signaling pathways controlled by the ATR kinase.
- Characterizing abasic site repair and tolerance mechanisms.
- Developing novel cancer therapeutic approaches targeting the DNA damage response.
Our lab employs a multi-disciplinary approach, integrating genetics, biochemistry, cell biology, proteomics, and structural biology techniques. Candidates will have access to state-of-the-art facilities and will be part of the vibrant Genome Maintenance Program within the Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center and the Vanderbilt Institute of Chemical Biology.
