Postdoctoral Researcher in Iron Photocatalysis: Fabio Julia’s group is seeking highly motivated and enthusiastic candidates for a fully-funded Postdoctoral Researcher position focused on developing new methods for sustainable organic synthesis using iron photocatalysis.

Location: University of Murcia, Murcia, Spain

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • Candidates must possess or be nearing completion of a PhD in Chemistry.
  • Preferred background includes homogeneous catalysis, organic chemistry, and/or organometallic chemistry.
  • Valuable experience includes reaction optimization and development, organic synthesis, inert atmosphere techniques, or DFT calculations.
  • Essential soft skills: problem-solving abilities, independence, creativity, and a willing-to-learn attitude.
  • Proficiency in English (writing and speaking) is required.

Job Description: The appointed Postdoctoral Researcher will:

  • Hold a contract for 1+1 years (renewable) with a competitive salary based on experience.
  • Conduct research under the supervision of Dr. Fabio Julia, who will support the candidate’s career development.
  • Work collaboratively in teams and mentor PhD and MSc students.
  • Perform experimental work in a synthetic lab, including:
    • Designing and developing catalytic methodologies for organic synthesis.
    • Conducting mechanistic studies using various techniques.
    • Preparing organic substrates and products, inorganic complexes, and ligands.
  • Prepare reports and scientific manuscripts, conduct literature searches, and participate in individual and group meetings.
  • Attend scientific meetings and conferences.
  • Engage in potential collaborations with other academic groups or the pharmaceutical industry.
