Postdoctoral Fellow: Optical Methods: The 3DPV group at the NWO Institute AMOLF is looking for a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher for a project on operando characterization in a novel plasmonic photoreactor, part of the European ReaCtor consortium. This role will focus on improving photocatalysis in fiber optic reactors by studying the effects of plasmonic metal nanoparticles.

Postdoctoral fellow: Optical methods for operando investigation in liquid reactors

Designation:
Postdoctoral Fellow

Research area:
Operando characterization in liquid reactors, plasmonics, photocatalysis, optical spectroscopy

Location:
AMOLF, Science Park 104, 1098 XG Amsterdam, Netherlands

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • Promotion in Physics, chemistry or a related field.
  • Previous experience in photochemistry, operando spectroscopy and/or plasmonics.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Excellent oral and written English skills.

Job description:
The successful candidate will investigate the improvement of photocatalytic processes in fiber optic reactors using plasmonic metal nanoparticles. The role will include:

  • Use of atomic force and spectroscopy techniques (fluorescence and Raman) to monitor chemical reactions spatially and temporally.
  • Investigation of the reaction kinetics from single particles to ensembles and determination of the ideal plasmonic particle density in the reactor.
  • Close collaboration with other researchers and partners of the consortium, including participation in symposia, workshops and mutual visits.
  • Contribution to the development of a novel light-operated chemical reactor type with the aim of significantly reducing energy consumption in catalytic processes and enabling scalable use.

How to apply:
Interested candidates can apply online by submitting their personal details, CV and other required documents through the AMOLF application portal. For more information, please contact Esther Alarcon Llado by email at e.alarconllado@amolf.nl.

Last application date:
