Postdoctoral Fellow in Cell Biology: This is an exciting opportunity for a postdoctoral fellow to join the Morgan Group at the John Innes Centre and work on cutting-edge research in cell and developmental biology.

Postdoctoral Fellow in Cell and Developmental Biology

Designation: Postdoctoral Fellow

Research area: Cell and developmental biology, molecular biology, meiotic recombination

Location: John Innes Centre, Norwich, UK

Eligibility/Qualification: Promotion in Molecular biology or a related disciplinedemonstrated ability to perform protein biochemistry, experience in biochemistry in plant systems is desirable but not essential, strong interest in understanding the molecular mechanism of meiotic recombination. Candidates should have experience in protein purification, characterization of purified proteins by biochemical, biophysical or structural techniques, molecular cloning of recombinant protein expression, proteomic analysis of protein-protein interactions and an understanding of the biochemical process of DNA recombination.

Job description: The successful applicant will investigate the biochemistry of meiotic recombination proteins in Arabidopsis. Key tasks include determining the activity, putative targets and oligomerization properties of the recombination apparatus in Arabidopsis. This study is critical to answering important, open questions related to meiotic crossover formation, such as understanding the underlying biophysics behind the coarsening dynamics of recombination proteins and how this might affect crossover designation.
