We are offering a postdoc position in the group of Elena Rugarli at the Cologne Cluster of Excellence for Cellular Stress Responses in Age-Related Diseases (CECAD) and the Institute of Genetics. The position focuses on investigating the role of mitochondrial quality control in neurodegenerative diseases, with a particular focus on RNA-binding proteins.

Eligibility/Qualification:

• Doctorate in Biology, biochemistry, genetics, neurobiology or a related field.
• Practical experience in molecular, biochemical and cell biological techniques.
• Preferred: Experience in RNA biology, translation regulation and structural biology.
• Strong team player with the ability to work independently in an international research environment.
• Proactive, flexible and with a problem-solving attitude.

Job description:

• Develop and lead a research project focused on understanding how the RNA-binding protein CLUH regulates mRNAs encoding mitochondrial proteins.
• Conduct independent research under the supervision of the lead researcher.
• Record and analyze data accurately using good scientific practices.
• Collaborate with leading groups in mitochondrial medicine, including those at the Max Planck Institute for Biology of Ageing.
