Postdoc position in simulation-based adaptation: The Department of Computer Science, University of Copenhagen is looking for a highly motivated and qualified individual for a two-year postdoctoral position with the possibility of extension. The successful candidate will be involved in the development of state-of-the-art robot automation and adaptation techniques using simulation and machine learning methods.

Postdoc position in the field of simulation-based adaptation for the reuse of robotic data

Simulation-based adaptation for robot data reuse, digital manufacturing and smart engineering.

University of Copenhagen, Denmark

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • Promotion in Computer science, mechanical engineering/electronics/automation technology or applied mathematics/physics with specialization in artificial intelligence/robotics.
  • Solid foundation in robotics, machine learning and/or dynamic simulation.
  • Knowledge of C++/Python or other programming languages ​​for creating and maintaining software packages.
  • Familiarity with robot simulators such as Issac Sim/MuJoCo is an advantage.

Job description:
The successful candidate will be involved in developing novel robot automation and customization techniques using simulation and machine learning methods. This unique opportunity focuses on two key challenges:

  1. Creating algorithms to process historical manufacturing data in various formats and translate robot movements to adapt to new task requirements and settings.
  2. Use simulations to synthesize task data and validate and refine robot motion with model-based learning/optimization.
    The role requires a solid foundational knowledge of robot learning and control as well as a strong interest in applying simulation-based machine learning techniques to solve complex and practical challenges in digital manufacturing. The candidate is expected to make a significant contribution to the research objectives and to bring both technical expertise and teamwork skills.
