Postdoc position: Cellular Proteostasis: The Laboratory of Cellular Proteostasis at the International Institute of Molecular and Cell Biology in Warsaw (IIMCB) is looking for a passionate and dedicated postdoctoral fellow for the project “Nuclear Protein Quality Control in Neurodegeneration”. The aim of this project is to elucidate the mechanisms of nuclear protein quality control (PQC) in mammals, with a focus on protein clearance pathways and their relevance to human disease.

Location: International Institute of Molecular and Cell Biology in Warsaw (IIMCB), Warsaw

Eligibility/Qualification:

• Do you have a PhD in Biology, biotechnology, medicine or an equivalent fieldCandidates with degrees in other fields, including engineering, computer science or physics, will also be considered if they have relevant experience.
• Fulfill the requirements of the competition (section 2.1.1).
• Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.
• High motivation and proactive and cooperative attitude.
• Previous knowledge of specific methods is desirable but not mandatory.

Job description:
As a postdoctoral fellow, you are responsible for:

• To conduct a CRISPR/Cas9-based high-throughput screen to discover novel key factors and signaling pathways for maintaining protein quality control and the ubiquitin-proteasome system (UPS) in the mammalian nucleus.
• Using cell culture methods, including human induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC)-derived neurons, biochemical and molecular biological methods, flow cytometry and confocal microscopy.
• Planning and conducting experiments, recording experiments in an electronic laboratory notebook, analyzing data and reporting results regularly.
