Funding Information

• Polar Knowledge Canada (POLAR) sponsors the POLAR Northern Resident Scholarship each year, valued at $10,000.

Qualification criteria

• Applicants must:
  • You are a Canadian citizen or permanent resident of Canada.
  • At the time of application, you must have resided in Nunavut, Northwest Territories, Yukon Territory or Inuit Nunangaat Territory (hereinafter referred to as Northern Resident) for at least three years.
  • You must be regularly enrolled in a doctoral or master’s program at an accredited university at the time of application and during the award period.
  • I am engaged in Northern or Arctic research to complete a thesis, major paper, publication or similar output.
  • Show your commitment to polar research.
  • On-site investigations are conducted from May (of the year in which the award is presented) to March of the following year.
