Platform API Catalog for Azure API Center

Azure API Center allows you to track all APIs within your organization in a central location for discovery, reuse, and governance. Enterprise developers across your organization need seamless access to consume APIs from the Azure API Center. Not all enterprise developers in your organization have full access to the Azure API Center, such as access to add new APIs to the API Center. However, all enterprise developers need access to view API definitions, export API specification documents, and create API clients.

Platform API Catalog Enterprise developers across your organization can seamlessly access APIs using the Visual Studio Code extension for Azure API Center. This drives discovery, use, and reuse of APIs across the enterprise.

Using the Platform API Catalog, developers can search for APIs in the Azure API Center, view API definitions, manage the API Center itself, or optionally create API clients when they do not have access to add APIs to their inventory. . Access to the platform API catalog is managed using Microsoft Entra identity and Azure role-based access control. The Platform API Catalog helps enterprise developers discover API details and start developing API clients.

The platform API catalog allows developers to:

• Export API Specification Document – Export the API specification from the definition and download it as a file
• Create an API client – Use the Microsoft Kiota extension to create API clients for any language.
• Create markdown – Generate API documentation in Markdown format
• OpenAPI Documentation – View the documentation for the API definition and try working with the Swagger UI.
