  • Molecular mechanism of microbiome-related carcinogenesis
  • Cryogenic electron microscopy (cryo-EM)
  • Structural biology
  • Protein biochemistry
  • biophysics

Location

Leibniz Research Institute for Molecular Pharmacology (FMP), Berlin, Germany

Authorization/Qualification

  • Training: Master’s degree in Biochemistry, biophysics, chemistry, physics or a related field with very good grades.

Job description

The successful candidate will investigate the molecular mechanisms of binding of the autotransporter adhesin of Fusobacterium nucleatum to human target cells in the junior research group of Dr. Daniel Roderer. The project includes:

  • Analysis of complexes between bacterial adhesins and human cell surface receptors.
  • By using cryogenic electron microscopy (cryo-EM) and cryo-tomography (cryo-ET), a near atomic resolution of these interactions is achieved both in vitro and in cellular environments.

The position is initially limited to three years, with the possibility of an extension. The remuneration is based on the collective agreement for the public service (TVöD Bund), the position corresponds to 65% full-time employment.
