Eligibility/Qualification:
- Master’s degree in a relevant field of study.
- For applicants from outside the EU/EEA, NOKUT approval of the master’s degree is required.
- Grade average of B or better (ECTS scale) for the master’s program and thesis.
- Admission to the faculty’s doctoral program is mandatory.
- Self-motivated with strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Proficient in English (both written and spoken).
- Preferred experience in molecular genetics, programming in R, or bioinformatics.
- Experience with functional genomics (e.g., RNA-seq, ATAC-seq) is advantageous but not required.
- Peer-reviewed publications in relevant fields are beneficial.
Job Description:
The selected PhD candidate will:
- Investigate the molecular mechanisms controlling reproductive allometry and maturation age in Atlantic salmon.
- Utilize state-of-the-art functional genomics to study life-history traits.
- Collaborate with researchers at Nord University and Concordia University (Canada).
- Develop and execute experiments using dwarf Atlantic salmon to study freshwater adaptive traits.
- Work in a supportive and innovative environment with access to modern molecular laboratories and recirculating aquatic facilities.
