PhD Student Position: The Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology at the Faculty of Biology and the Center for Advanced Technologies of the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań, Poland, offers a PhD student position. This position is based in the Laboratory of Developmental Epigenetics, headed by Dr. Michał Gdula. The research will focus on epigenetic regulation of transcription dynamics and termination and is funded by the NCN Preludium Bis grant. The selected candidate will spend part of their research at Kyushu University in Japan.

Description of the scholarship
The Developmental Epigenetics Laboratory at Adam Mickiewicz University focuses on understanding the role of epigenetic regulation in various biological processes, including transcription, development, cancer development, and DNA replication. The laboratory uses an interdisciplinary approach combining molecular biology, cell engineering, animal models, genomics, bioinformatics, and advanced microscopy. The successful PhD student will study the effects of chromatin loops on transcription termination, perform experimental work, and spend three months collaborating with Prof. Taka Nojima at Kyushu University in Japan.

Eligibility

• Required qualifications:
• Masters in Molecular biology/biotechnology or a related field (or expected completion within a few months)
• Experience with standard techniques of molecular biology/biochemistry
• High motivation and enthusiasm for research
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Fluent English
• Desirable qualifications (training is offered if required):
• Experience with NGS techniques (RNA-seq, ChIP-seq, WGBS)
• Familiarity with chromatin conformation capture techniques
• Experience working with animals
• Bioinformatics expertise
• Experience in imaging and 3D data analysis
• Co-authorship of relevant publications (e.g. epigenetics)
