Eligibility/Qualification:

  • Master’s degree in Applied mathematics, computational/theoretical physics, theoretical biology, computer science or related fields
  • Good written and spoken English skills
  • Ability to work independently in a multidisciplinary environment
  • Strong programming skills in C++ or related languages
  • Experience in mathematical modelling
  • Interest in cell and developmental biology of plants

Job description:

  • Develop and interpret novel two-dimensional mathematical multiscale models
  • Close collaboration with experimental plant biologists to model mechanical manipulations
  • Integrate insights into mechanical properties of cell walls from experiments and simulations
  • Improving mathematical models in collaboration with experimental biologists
  • Extend models to three dimensions in later phases of the project
