PhD Fellowship in Molecular Biology: The Institute of Biochemistry and Biophysics of the Polish Academy of Sciences invites applications for a fully funded PhD position in the Doctoral School of Molecular Biology and Biochemistry. Eligibility/Qualification:

  • A master’s degree in Life sciences, molecular biology, natural sciences or a related field.
  • Proven practical experience in molecular biology techniques.
  • Previous knowledge of plant biology, especially Thale cressis highly valued.
  • Good knowledge of written and spoken English.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, willingness to learn and the ability to work independently and in a team.

Job description:
The selected candidate will participate in a research project entitled ‘Virus-driven control of seed dormancy’. The aim of the project is to investigate the effects of viral infection on seed dormancy, focusing on molecular pathways such as the Systemic Acquired Resistance (SAR) pathway and its influence on key dormancy regulators such as DOG1. The candidate will use a range of molecular biology techniques to investigate how plant viruses affect seed biology, contributing to a better understanding of plant reproductive strategies and agricultural implications.
