Office 365 Admin Walkthrough – Microsoft Community Hub

The complexity of IT infrastructure management can seem overwhelming, especially with limited resources. This quick walkthrough of the Microsoft 365 admin center will help you navigate administrative tasks for your nonprofit organization.

Access the admin center

Step 1: Log in

  • Open your web browser.
  • movement admin.microsoft.com.
  • If you have the appropriate permissions, you will see a management button visible in the left panel or app launcher.
  • Enter your administrator credentials (username and password).
  • Click Login.

Step 2: Home Page Overview

When you log in, the home page appears. The home page provides a summary of your organization, including common tasks commonly performed in most organizations. At the top of the navigation, look for actions like Add User, Reset Password, and Add User Group.

Step 3: Navigation Pane

The left navigation pane provides access to all management functions. The main sections are:

  • user
  • groups
  • device
  • claim
  • setting

User Management

Step 4: Add a new user

  • To add users, go to: Users > Active Users.
  • Click Add User.
  • Please enter the required information (name, email, etc.).
  • Assign product licenses.
  • Set login security options.
  • Click Add to create a user.

Step 5: Manage existing users

To manage your current users, go to: Users > Active Users <\strong>you can see a list of all users here. Click on a user to view and edit their details. Options are:

  • View a list of all devices connected to your organization.
  • Click on a device to view details and manage settings. Options are:
    • Add new device
    • Security policy enforcement
    • Manage device settings

Billing and Subscriptions

Step 8: License Management

  • Go to next Billing > License <\strong> Manage your licenses.
  • View a list of all licenses assigned to your organization.
  • Assign, remove, or reassign licenses as needed.

Step 9: Billing Information

  • movement Billing > Billing and Payments <\strong> Please correct your payment method.
  • Check your billing details.
  • Manage your payment methods.
  • Set up payment reminders and alerts.

View additional admin centers

Step 10: View the Dashboard

When you return to the home page, you can change the view from Simplified view to Dashboard view. This view allows you to customize your home page by adding, removing, or rearranging task cards.

  • click in the top right <\strong> Customize it.
  • Drag and drop cards to rearrange them.
  • To remove a card, click the X on it.

Configure settings

Step 11: Set up your organization

For additional settings you can apply to your entire organization, go to: Settings > Organization Settings. <\strong> Configure organization-wide settings, including:

  • Security Settings
  • Email settings
  • Compliance Policy

Step 12: Security and Compliance

To view security topics within Action Center, go to: Security and Compliance. <\strong> Here you can perform the following functions: Manage and set up data protection and compliance features. data loss prevention (DLP) policies; Manage eDiscovery and configure audit logs.

  • Open a service request and track its status.
