Improve customer health with multi-tenant insights from Microsoft 365 Lighthouse

Prioritize your most important insights

As a managed service provider (MSP), you want to provide excellent service to your customers. You want to help them implement new features, optimize their security posture, and resolve any issues they may encounter. But how do you track the needs and preferences of all your customers across multiple tenants? How do you prioritize your work based on data and insights?

This is where Microsoft 365 Lighthouse can help. The Tenants page in Lighthouse provides a comprehensive and customizable overview of all your customer tenants, along with key metrics and indicators to help you assess health and performance. You can also drill down into each tenant to see more details and take action on the tenant.

In this blog post, we’ll walk you through the latest updates to our tenant pages and share case studies showing how you can use these insights to power your managed services business.

Use tags to filter your most urgent customers

To easily filter and segment your customers by tagging them, check out the Tags feature on the Tenants page. You can create custom tags based on any criteria relevant to your business, such as industry, size, region, product, or service. You can then assign one or more tags to each customer and use them to filter your tenant list.

Identify customers with low app and service usage.

Lighthouse now lets you see app and services usage across all your customer tenants, helping you identify customers who aren’t taking full advantage of Microsoft 365 services. An “Unhealthy” status in the Apps and services usage column on the Tenants page indicates that a customer is experiencing very low or no usage across one or more of your core Microsoft 365 workloads: email (Exchange), core apps (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, or OneNote), storage (OneDrive or SharePoint Online), or Teams. Customers are more likely to stop using Microsoft products when they don’t find value in them, so you can use this column to identify customers with low usage, and then follow the recommended next steps in the details pane to help you support them and get them back on track.

yes: Identify and reach out to customers who are using unhealthy apps and services, and identify barriers to adoption. Ensure that your customers’ users are trained to use Microsoft 365 products, are licensed, and that customers understand the value of the products.

Go to the Tenant Page now Check your app and service usage.

Compare Microsoft Secure Scores across the board. customer

Microsoft Secure Score aggregates your security results into a single score, giving you a quick overview of your customer’s current security posture. The higher the score, the more secure your tenant is. You can compare Secure Scores across customers on the Tenants page to see which customers need help improving their security posture. To view Secure Score details for a specific customer, select the customer tenant from the list to open the Tenants page, select , and then select the View Secure Score details link to see the customer’s Secure Score broken down by category (Identities, Data, Devices, and Apps) in the Microsoft Defender portal.

yes: Identify customers with low security scores, then contact them to discuss how you can help them strengthen their cybersecurity protocols. Refer to the customer’s security score increase each month to explain how your support is contributing to improving their security posture.
