SoCha is a Cadmus Group MEL subcontractor under the USAID funded Feed the Future Ghana Trade and Investment (GTI) activity. The main objective of GTI is to integrate the principles of enterprise-led development and market systems development in Ghana to boost productivity and growth at the enterprise level by improving the systems in which enterprises operate.

The GTI activity is structured around five main objectives: 1) improving quality standards within domestic value chains, 2) reducing the time and cost of transporting goods across borders, 3) promoting increased investment, particularly among small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), 4) developing distinctive and innovative ideas for additional programmatic interventions, and 5) scaling up programmatic interventions and intensifying engagement at the company level.

Scope of work

SoCha is seeking a full-time, qualified MEL Specialist to support the associated MEL services in the Feed the Future GTI activity. The MEL Specialist will be a member of the GTI MEL activity core team and will report to the MEL/CLA Director. The MEL Specialist will work with the GTI MEL team and GTI technical teams to:

  • Plan and coordinate implementation under the supervision of the MEL/CLA Director.
  • Develop data collection tools and integrate the reporting system into the adaptive program management cycle.
  • Support the daily execution of the mission’s MEL and analytical work requirements.
  • Coordinate discreet work requests under the supervision of the MEL/CLA Director.
  • Provide additional technical support from MEL as needed.

Minimum qualifications and experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant field.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of M&E experience on donor projects; CLA experience preferred.
  • Previous experience in impact assessment in the agricultural and trade sectors is desirable.
  • Previous experience working with USAID or similar donors is desirable.
  • Previous experience working on a Feed the Future activity preferred.
  • Good English knowledge.

The MEL specialist has experience in one or more of the following areas:

  • Performance monitoring, including:
    • Develop performance monitoring plans.
    • Design and optimization of quantitative and qualitative indicators for international development projects.
  • Collaborate, learn and adapt:
    • Coordination with stakeholders.
    • Building institutional capacity and memory.
    • Create incentives for learning and sharing.
  • Relevant industry knowledge:
    • Agricultural value chains.
    • Ghana’s trade and investment landscape.
    • Company-led development
    • Development of market systems.
