Research/Job Area- Mechanical Engineering or equivalent 

Location- IIT Ropar

Eligibility/Qualification–

Necessary qualifications: 

1. Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent 
2. PhD degree in Mechanical engineering or equivalent from a recognized institute
3. Age limit: less than 40 years
4. Interest in research on sustainability/ product development
5. At least 02 high quality international journals published/accepted

Preferred qualifications:

1. Minimum of 60% marks (or 6.5 Grade points out of 10) (55% marks for SC/ST) in all degrees starting from bachelors.
2. Thesis defended preferred however, thesis submitted would also be considered.
3. Applicants with fresh PhD from IIT Ropar is not preferred.

Job/Position Description- 

Applications are been invited from Indian nationals for the position of Post-Doctoral Fellow/Senior Project Associate to work in DST sponsored Technology Innovation Hub at IIT Ropar in the framework of National Mission on Interdisciplinary Cyber-Physical Systems (NM – ICPS).  

Position description: Post-Doctoral Fellow/Senior Project Associate Location: IIT Ropar, Punjab   Number of positions: One Type of job: Full time (on contract) 

Duration:Three years position. Initially contract is for one year. Contract can be extended beyond based on satisfactory performance.  Regular assessment (Quarterly/Half yearly/Yearly)would be done.Extension of contract would be done based on the assessment.

Remuneration:  As per DST norms

Details of the research work to be carried out: 

The selected researcher would work on multiple projects. The area is flexible. Some of the possible projects are:

1. Conduct research on sustainability of products and agriculture systems, equipment and LCA analysis
2. Design and development of Indoor farming system using IoT and CPS
3. Automation in indoor and vertical farming
4. Development of agriculture machinery/ agriculture automation 
5. New product design methodology 
6. Study of stubble usage post harvesting
