Harnessing the power of Generative AI to protect your data by info.odysseyx@gmail.com September 5, 2024 written by info.odysseyx@gmail.com September 5, 2024 0 comment 13 views 13 In today’s digital age, where data breaches and cyber threats are becoming increasingly sophisticated and prevalent, the need for robust data security measures is more pressing than ever. Traditional security approaches have proven inadequate to address the complex and evolving nature of modern cyber threats. This has led to a growing consensus among security professionals and industry leaders that Generative AI (GenAI) should be integrated into data security frameworks. GenAI’s ability to analyze massive amounts of data in real time, identify patterns, and predict potential threats offers a revolutionary approach to protecting sensitive information. A recent report from Gartner predicts that the use of AI in cybersecurity will reduce the number of data breaches by up to 20% by 2025, demonstrating that the industry is recognizing the critical role AI plays in enhancing data security (Gartner, 2022). In this blog, we explore how Microsoft is leveraging GenAI to transform data security and provide organizations with the tools they need to effectively protect their digital assets. Leverage the power of Copilot to strengthen your organization’s security Human ingenuity and expertise will always be an irreplaceable component of defense, so we need technologies that can augment these unique capabilities with the skill sets, processing speed, and rapid learning of AI. Technologies that can work with us, detect hidden patterns and behaviors, and respond at machine speed with the latest and most advanced security practices. In this scenario Microsoft Copilot for Security Helps professionals across a variety of cybersecurity disciplines work more effectively and efficiently in every role they perform. It helps them enhance and grow their capabilities and skills while supporting workflows and teams that collaborate to solve security challenges. Copilot for Security uses GenAI to analyze data from a variety of sources, including other Microsoft Security solutions, so it can help analysts catch things they might otherwise miss. Copilot for Security synthesizes data, detects critical signals better than ever before, and processes everything in a single pane of glass, so you don’t have to go back and forth between solutions to get additional context. Increase data protection efficiency with Copilot for Security built into Purview A key application of Copilot for Security is to empower and empower data security and data compliance teams to protect data more efficiently and agilely. Data security managers are often overwhelmed by the volume and complexity of alerts, and the integration of Microsoft Purview and Copilot for Security allows these tools to work together to protect data at machine speed. The speed at which data security investigations are conducted is critical to preventing data loss. However, analyzing a wide range of sources can be a significant challenge for analysts of all experience levels. With Copilot’s comprehensive summary, Microsoft Purview Data Loss Prevention (DLP) Alerts allow data security administrators to identify alerts, take action on them, and prevent data risks much faster and more effectively. Alerts are summarized and include details such as policy rules, sources, and related files, as well as user risk level context from Insider Risk Management (IRM). Microsoft Purview Insider Risk Management Alerts can help you more quickly understand potentially risky activity, user context, behavioral sequences, and intent behind alerts. We are also excited to announce the public preview of enhanced hunting powered by Copilot for Security in IRM, where admins can use GenAI-based analytics to deepen their investigations and double-click beyond alert summaries to reveal a user’s risk profile and activities. Figure 2: Summary of Copilot built into Insider Risk Management Compliance managers, forensic investigators, legal, and other teams can also benefit greatly from GenAI being integrated into their workflows. Not only do they spend most of their time reviewing long content and evidence, but managers also have to invest time learning complex technical features like keyword query languages to perform searches, and 60% of managers’ time is spent reviewing evidence collected in review sets. Compliance teams need to comply with regulatory obligations such as industry regulations or corporate policies regarding business communications. To do this, teams need to review communications violations that involve lengthy content such as meeting minutes, group chats, long email threads, and attachments. Along with a concise and comprehensive summary of the situation. Microsoft Purview Communications ComplianceContent can be evaluated against relevant compliance policies, allowing investigators to get a summary of policy alignments and better identify risky communications. Microsoft Purview eDiscoveryHere they help streamline the exploration of vast amounts of evidence data that can take hours, days, or even weeks. This process often requires expensive resources, such as external committees, to manually review each document to determine its relevance to the case, and this built-in Copilot for Security feature allows investigators to use Copilot to summarize items in a review set, reducing days of legal investigation to seconds. Figure 4: Copilot Summary Built into eDiscovery Search is one of the most difficult and time-consuming workflows in an eDiscovery investigation. Now, with Copilot for Security, you can streamline your investigations by translating inquiries from a natural query language to a core query language. This capability allows organizations to use natural language to translate them into assertive evidence queries, which can help correct possible errors, enhance team expertise, and enable analysts at all levels to perform advanced investigations.
