Chemonics is seeking a Health Market Assessment Coordinator with a specific focus on family planning (FP) to support the USAID Frontier Health Markets (FHM) Engage project in Guatemala. Globally, FHM Engage provides technical assistance (TA) in a number of countries, supporting local actors to improve the capacity of health markets to address supply-side capacity gaps and consumer preferences. FHM Engage contributes to the equitable provision of and access to quality family planning (FP) and other health services and products in mixed health systems.

The Guatemala Health Market Assessment Coordinator will contribute to the development of a market description and recommended solutions in Guatemala to connect development partners funding public health interventions with private sector actors to improve the delivery of FP products, services and information. The assignment will be in Guatemala City with travel to Huehuetenango and Quiché. This is a part-time consultancy involving approximately 20 days of LOE (Level of Effort) over a 3-month period.

The tasks include:

  • Review and familiarize yourself with FHM Engage’s Market Development Approach (MDA) and rapid assessment tools
  • Support the FHM Engage team in organizing stakeholder interview meetings with public and private stakeholders from Guatemala, as well as workshops with key FP consumer groups (e.g. youth, indigenous women).
  • Support the logistics organization, including transportation, required to meet meeting and workshop requirements
  • Participating in stakeholder interviews, including taking/tracing interview notes
  • Conduct any follow-up interviews with stakeholders as specified by the FHM Engage team.
  • Support FHM Engage in developing interview guides for key FP consumer groups
  • Conducting and moderating small “workshops” with important FP consumer groups
  • Support the FHM Engage team in compiling, organizing and analyzing data from stakeholder interviews and FP consumer workshops.
  • Attend USAID Guatemala meetings
  • Review and comment on the draft slides of the market description and policy brief with recommendations for improving the FP market.

Qualifications:

  • At least 5 years of professional experience in the Guatemalan FP healthcare markets
  • In-depth knowledge of the health sector in Guatemala
  • Experience working on FP programs that work with and/or partner with the private health sector in Guatemala
  • Extensive contacts and network with individuals, groups and companies in the private healthcare sector involved in FP services and product provision
  • Ability to collaborate and coordinate with a broad range of public and private healthcare stakeholders
  • Strong technical writing and presentation skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with different target groups
  • Proven initiative, organizational talent, versatility and integrity
  • Fluent in Spanish and English, both written and spoken
  • Fluent spoken indigenous languages ​​such as Ixil, Quiche or Mam are desirable

Chemonics is seeking a coordinator to collaborate with the evaluation of the health market in Guatemala, particularly with regard to family planning (PF), and within the framework of the USAID Frontier Health Markets (FHM) Engage project in Guatemala. At the global level, FHM Engage provides technical assistance (AT) in different parts of the country and responds to local actors to increase the capacity of sanitation facilities in the market by providing care products in the supply and satisfying consumer preferences. FHM Engage contributes to gender equality, access to services, sanitation products and high quality planning (PF) in public-private health systems.

The Guatemala Health Market Assessment Coordinator contributes a description of the market and recommended solutions in Guatemala to liaise with the development companies that carry out financial interventions of the Public Health Service with private sector actors to support the product, service and information from PF. The place of deployment is in the city of Guatemala with trips to Huehuetenango and Quiché. It is a temporary consultancy that covers approximately 20 days at the level of fire (LOE) and a period of 3 months.

Responsibilities include:

  • Re-familiarize yourself with FHM Engage’s Market Entry Application (MDA) form and complete the evaluation work quickly.
  • Participate in the FHM equipment. Commission the organization of meetings of entrepreneurs with actors from the public and private citizens of Guatemala, as well as with groups of PF service providers (eg youth, indigenous women).
  • The organization of logistics, including transport, is necessary to meet the needs of reunions and visitors.
  • Attend events with key actors, including attending and taking notes on the events.
  • Realize every time you start working with the cast after getting to know the FHM Engage team.

Qualifications:

  • At least 5 years of professional experience in the PF healthcare market in Guatemala.
  • Solid development of the health sector in Guatemala.
  • Experiences in PF programs working with a socialist in the private health sector in Guatemala.
  • Numerous contacts of individuals, groups and negotiations in the private sector, linked to PF’s range of services and products.
  • Capacity to involve and coordinate a large number of public and private actors on holiday.
