PhD Scholarship in Systems Biology -: The Technical University of Munich and the Helmholtz Center Munich are seeking applicants for a fully funded PhD position in Systems Biology. The research will focus on investigating the complex interactions between phages, bacteria and the human host with the goal of developing personalized phage-based treatments against multidrug-resistant bacteria and manipulating the human microbiome in associated diseases.

Designation: PhD student in systems biology

Research area: The research focus is on the interactions between phages and bacteria as well as between virome and microbiome using state-of-the-art computer techniques.

Location: Technical University of Munich and Helmholtz-Zentrum Munich, Germany

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • Masters in Computer science, systems biology or a related field
  • Knowledge of programming (R or Python and Bash)
  • Strong written and oral communication skills in English

Job description: The successful candidate will be responsible for exploring the complex interplay between viral and microbial communities and their impact on human health using advanced computational techniques. By collaborating with wet lab scientists, the candidate will gain first-hand data.
