PhD Fellowship in Gene Editing: Cranfield University, in collaboration with Azolla Biotech Ltd., is offering a fully funded PhD Fellowship for a research project focused on using advanced molecular genetic techniques to identify and manipulate key genes and pathways that confer salt tolerance in pulse crops. The successful candidate will work on developing crops that can contribute to food security in vulnerable regions and improve soil quality using CRISPR-Cas9 gene editing and Agrobacterium-mediated transformation methods.

Eligibility/Qualification:
Applicants should hold a British first or second class honours degree or an equivalent qualification in a related discipline, such as Plant sciences, crop sciences, genetics or a more general biological background with an interest in molecular genetics and plant breeding.

Job description:
The selected candidate will conduct research to identify and manipulate key genes and pathways that confer salt tolerance in pulses using advanced molecular genetic techniques, CRISPR-Cas9 gene editing and Agrobacterium-mediated transformation methods. The research aims to genetically improve the resilience and yield of pulses under saline conditions and test their performance under controlled greenhouse conditions.
