Format Painter comes to Excel for tablets

Hello Insiders! I’m Sukul Bagai, a Program Manager on the Excel team. By popular demand, I’m excited to bring Format Painter to tablets. Now you can quickly and easily copy all the formats in Excel using Format Painter on your iPad or Android tablet.

Format Painter feature added to Excel for tablets.

Format Painter lets you copy all formatting from one object (cell or range) and apply it to another with one click. This popular feature in Excel for Windows and Excel for Mac has been a huge request from tablet users in our feedback. We’re excited to bring it to Excel for iPad and Excel for Android tablets!

How it works

Ready to try it? Follow the steps below.

1. Select the cell or range of cells from which you want to copy the format.
2. Tap Format Painter button house tag.

3. Select the cell or range of cells you want to copy the format to. The format will be applied automatically.
4. To stop applying formatting Format PainterPress the button again.

effectiveness

This feature is available to Office Insiders running the following Beta Channel builds:

• iOS: Version 2.51 (Build 21062403) or later
• Android: Version 16.0.14322.10000 or later

Features are released over time to ensure everything works smoothly. They are released slowly to a larger number of Insiders, highlighting features you may not have. Sometimes we remove elements based on your feedback to make them even better. This is rare, but we also have the option to completely remove a feature from the product, even if you, as an Insider, had the opportunity to try it out.
