Finance Coordinator – United States of America by info.odysseyx@gmail.com July 24, 2024 written by info.odysseyx@gmail.com July 24, 2024 0 comment 5 views 5 Job overview: The Finance Coordinator is a member of Maryland’s finance team and is responsible for essential accounting functions related to accounts payable and accounts receivable, monthly and closing support, and various reports to donors and headquarters. Main responsibilities: Ensure that the Office and donors adhere to the IRC’s accounting policies regarding fund accounting as set forth in the IRC’s Financial Manual and generally accepted accounting principles and donor requirements Ensure high quality financial reports are submitted on time, working closely with management, programs and finance teams. Maintain a broad and deep understanding of donor policies, regulations and procedures and build this knowledge among program team members Support day-to-day financial activities including daily tasks such as payment verification, AP activities, AR reporting/invoicing, etc. Review weekly expense reports in the Maryland office and work with clerks to resolve discrepancies. Review accounting transactions to ensure correct coding and perform month/year end closing tasks and variance analysis as required. Assist in the preparation of financial reports to be submitted to IRC NY/donors according to scheduled due dates and/or contractual obligations. Support in preparing the monthly invoice Manage office-related credit card processes and prepare monthly payroll balance reconciliation Check CIK accounting entries Prepare journal entries for customer deposits Resolve discrepancies between Integra and ETO Coordinate monthly billing and allocations for Office programs Coordinate the protection of the organization’s assets through the implementation of the IRC’s internal control procedures Act as support to the Finance Manager in important daily tasks May supervise other staff Other assigned related tasks Job Requirements: Formal accounting or bookkeeping education and/or courses required; 4-year degree in a related field strongly preferred 3 years or more professional experience with accounting and bookkeeping procedures and standards Previous experience in nonprofit/grant-funded environment strongly desired High level of professional integrity; ability and commitment to maintain the confidentiality of sensitive data Solid organizational skills: attention to detail, ability to multitask, set priorities and meet deadlines Ability to work independently and flexibly and work well under pressure in a fast-paced team environment Excellent communication, analytical and negotiation skills, willingness to work with a variety of stakeholders Previous knowledge in the donor area is desirable. Good interpersonal skills: ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment Solid computer skills: MS Word, Excel and other financial software are an advantage Proven ability to foster an organizational culture that reflects the IRC’s core values: service, accountability, integrity, and equality.
