We’re Kirti Sahu, a product manager, and Yamini Gupta, a product designer from the Office product team. We’re excited to share some new changes to the File menu in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint for the web, aimed at streamlining and improving your overall experience. Improved File menu in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint for the web The File menu is at the heart of productivity in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint for the web. It’s where you create, open, save, share, and manage your documents. Many of you have told us that finding commands is difficult and unintuitive. We’re excited to hear your feedback and share an overview of the changes we’ve made to the File menu to make it more intuitive and streamlined. The file renaming feature has been optimized to be more efficient. You can rename a file by simply clicking on the file name in the title bar. The auto-save experience has been revamped. A green icon visually confirms that all your edits have been saved. Searching for important commands is no longer a hassle, everything you need is at your fingertips. The new and improved File menu in Word for the web What’s new Rename a file by selecting its title – Select the file name at the top of the browser window and type in the desired name. Rename a file in the title bar in PowerPoint for the web The auto-save experience has a new look. – After your changes are automatically saved, a green cloud icon appears next to the file name in the title bar, providing visual confirmation that your changes have been saved.
